The Mid-South Association of Independent Schools released the 2026-2027 realignment for the next school year.
For football there will be a Division I and Division II state champion in Class 4A, Class 3A, and Class 1A (8-man). Class 2A will have just one state champion. Playoff structure will be based off the following guidelines:
Class 4A Division I: Two-week playoff between the teams that have the four highest power point averages.
Class 4A Division II: Four-week playoff between teams with the next eight highest power point averages.
Class 3A Division I: Three-week playoff between the eight teams with the highest power point average.
Class 3A Division II: Three-week playoff between the next eight teams with the highest power point average.
Class 2A: One state champion.
Class 1A (8-Man) Division I: Four-week playoff between 12 teams with the highest power point averages.
Class 1A (8-Man) Division II: Four-week playoff between 12 teams with the highest power point averages.
In Class 4A Jackson Prep, Jackson Academy, Hartfield Academy, and MRA are all in the same division.
In Class 3A Lamar School, Brookhaven Academy, Heritage Academy, Silliman Institute (La.), and Cathedral dropped from Class 4A.
There are only 16 teams in Class 2A.
Discovery Christian was the only team to drop from Class 2A to Class 1A.
