TERRY — Jaden Gee picked the right time to have the game of his career.

Gee accounted for six touchdowns as Canton scored 26 unanswered points in the fourth to rally to beat Terry 47-40 in a key Class 6A non-division matchup at Bulldog Stadium on Thursday night.

“That’s what I love about my team is they kept fighting and that’s what I preach to them when we went in at halftime,” said Canton coach Dameon Brown. “I told them to keep fighting, stick together, and they came out and scratched, clawed, and did not quit and did it together as a team.”

Terry held a 40-21 lead heading into the fourth quarter, and the comeback was on for Canton.

Gee found Leland Gardner on a 23-yard touchdown pass to cut the Bulldog lead to 40-28.

After the Tigers forced a fumble Gee connected with Danarious Hicks on a 62-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 40-34 with 7:43 left.

Terry turned the ball over on downs with 6:05 remaining at their own 45-yard line and two plays later Gee called his own number and raced 21 yards to the end zone with 5:16 left to tie the game up at 40-40.

Bulldogs were forced to punt on their next possession, and the Tigers capitalized four plays later as Gee raced 21 yards to the end zone to give Canton the 47-40 lead with 2:27 remaining.

Antwain Truss came up with an interception on Terry’s next possession to seal the win for Canton (2-0).

“We saw coming out of halftime that Jaden running the ball was working for us, so we kept doing it and put it on his shoulders, let me run the football and win the game and we did,” Brown said. “Defense stepped up when we needed them too. When we needed a stop, they got us a stop. Jaden did exactly what I expected him to do. I put the ball in his hands and he makes plays. We needed this and we’re going to enjoy this win, but we got to stay focus.”

Gee finished with 166 yards rushing on 25 carries with four touchdown and went 4-of-8 passing for 92 yards and two touchdowns to lead Canton.

“Coach put the ball in my hands, and he expects me to do what I do. Be mentally tough and have the right mind set to win the game,” Gee said. “The key for us was get positive yards. Offensive line did a great job blocking and defense getting stops helped us a lot getting off the field and allowing us to go score. Big win for us.”

Tyler Osborne passed for 258 yards with three touchdowns to lead Terry (1-1).
